MacG Faces R1 Million Lawsuit Over Defamation of Actress Rosie Motene
Podcast and Chill host, MacGyver Mukwevho, better known as MacG, is facing a R1 million defamation lawsuit over remarks he made about ‘Generations’ actress and author Rosie Motene during an episode of his show.
The controversial podcaster, along with his co-hosts Sol Phenduka and Ghost Lady, is facing legal action for comments made about Motene, who is the author of Reclaiming the Soil.
According to entertainment publication ZiMoja, back in 2022, comedian Mongezi Mahlangu, widely known as Tol Ass Mo, appeared on the podcast and openly discussed the state of his marriage in light of rape allegations brought against him by model and actress Lerato Moloi.
During his interview with MacG, Tol Ass Mo claimed that Moloi had accused him of sexual assault during the filming of MasterChef South Africa. He went on to criticize the activists and celebrities who supported Moloi’s allegations, stating that these claims had cost him work and brand deals.
Among those Tol Ass Mo criticized was actress and activist Rosie Motene, known for her advocacy on gender-based violence and LGBTQI issues in Africa. He alleged that Rosie had “coached” Moloi on how to ruin his reputation and then proceeded to insult her while speaking with MacG.
ZiMoja reports that Tol Ass Mo’s comments on the podcast led to Rosie filing a R1 million lawsuit against MacG and demanding that the episode be removed from their YouTube channel.
Briefly News has confirmed that the podcast’s CEO, Bala Duma, stated that the matter is expected to go to court regarding that episode.
